Nadal back training after knee injury (Yahoo! Sports)

MANACOR, Spain (AP) — Rafael Nadal has begun training as part of his recovery from a left knee injury that has sidelined him since Wimbledon.

The Spaniard chose a hard court in his home town of Manacor to begin hitting tennis balls again, overseen by his uncle and coach Toni Nadal and a physiotherapist.

The 26-year-old Nadal says he plans to be fully fit in time for the Australian Open in January.

The fourth-ranked Nadal, who won the French Open, has not played a competitive match since losing to Czech player Lukas Rosol in the second round at Wimbledon nearly five months ago.

Wozniacki playful at McIlroy press conference (Yahoo! Sports)

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Just when top-ranked Rory McIlroy thought he had avoided the tough questions about his first round in Dubai, his girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki turned up at the news conference.

She waited her turn at the back of the room on Thursday before pouncing. She first asked about the support the PGA Championship winner had received – hoping for a compliment – before demanding to know what she would get for Christmas.

McIlroy tried to avoid the topic by telling the Danish tennis star she ”already got a lot of nice presents.”

Wozniacki wouldn’t relent, prompting laughter in the room and forcing McIlroy to say he had ”been looking” and would get her ”a nice present.”

McIlroy shot a 6-under 66 to trail leader Luke Donald by one stroke at the season-ending Dubai World Championship.
